You can use Pink if you don't have any cooling system components that are made out of brass or some other metal besides aluminum. BUT, for the sake of identification, it might be better to use the correct color for Toyota applications, so use Red for these Gen 3/4 Camrys. It's only a difference in the color of the dye. I've used all of them with no problems.įor those who might have a bottle of a Beck/Arnley phosphated HOAT coolant that just happens to be Green, don't is exactly the same as a phosphated HOAT that is Red. I think the Recochem is fine, too, although not the OEM like the other two probably are. Pentofrost A1 and also Beck/Arnley Red (in my opinion) are the exact same fluids used in the Toyota product and you can't go wrong with either of them. It satisfies the requirements of a Phosphated HOAT coolant. The Pep Boys "OEM Premium" is indeed made by Recochem. Many places charge that much for a dino oil change and filter. Yes its a PITA the first time, but then your good to go. Your looking at like 30-40 bucks and your time. Your really looking at like a gallon or little more of coolant depending on car and some dollar jugs of distilled water. There are threads here and maybe a sticky on how to really do a complete flush fully before going back to the factory red HOAT. You would need to talk to the tech 1st make clear you want all the green out and flushed with distilled water a few times including draining the block plugs etc. I honestly would not trust a shop to really do a full flush with distilled water and do it right and complete. Pep boys and other shops sell pre mixed Zerex red Aisin 50-50 mix for 14-18 a gallon. With Amazon Prime, just looked.Toyota red 32, pentofrost a-1 28, OEM red 25, beck arnley 22. I switched my 98 Camrys, my 01 Honda Odyssey( came with Blue HOAT before I greened it up) and my 08 Rav4(after a plugged heater core at 55k with Toyota pink) with Red HOAT. I trust them more than Prestone or whomever telling me on a container that its safe for all vehicles. ![]() Its what the designers of these amazing vehicles chose and its for a reason. The coolant comes in contact with a lot of surface area and parts and is a very important part of any car. ![]() I have read extensive in depth threads here covering the subject of using Red HOAT coolant.
